The Dali Lama on making a kinder world

In early 2020, the 14th Dalai Lama sat down in his own home for a filmed conversation. In this intimate setting, he shared personal reflections, life experiences, and teachings. These direct-to-camera talks became the seed for a cinematic portrait that blends his storytelling with archival footage, offering a window into both the man and his timeless wisdom.

Wisdom of Happiness takes on global challenges—violence, war, and environmental crises—but in a way you won’t hear on cable news. The Dalai Lama emphasizes that unconditional compassion—an active concern for the well-being of all living beings—is the path to reducing violence, resolving conflict, and addressing the deeper causes of suffering.

The film shows compassion not just as an emotion, but as a practical force that can heal divisions and create understanding across cultures, religions, and backgrounds. It reflects the Dalai Lama’s belief that when we cultivate compassion within ourselves, we create inner peace—and that peace naturally radiates outward, shaping a more harmonious world.

The film is scheduled for release in North American theaters starting October 17, 2025. It is available for purchase or rental on Apple TV/iTunes for online streaming now.
