“People are incredibly generous, and creativity has no limits."

In 2012, Konstantinos Trichas had just moved from Athens to London and was eager to break into the city’s design scene. At the time, he was freelancing and commuting two and a half hours each way from East London. On one of those long train rides, he cracked open a Moleskine notebook, wrote “What did you do yesterday?” on the first page, sketched a quick drawing, and handed it to fellow commuter and designer Genis Carreras to complete the next spread. After Carreras finished, he selected the next participant. Thus, a global art exchange was born.

Since that evening, the creative chain has grown slowly but steadily through word of mouth and festivals, building an archive of more than a thousand unique pages from contributors worldwide. Some sketchbooks go missing, some take ages to return, and there is constant logistical juggling with no funding—but the founders persist because of the joy and connection they find in each contribution.

As of 2025, the Two Pages project has completed 44 sketchbooks with entries from around the globe. Contributors emphasize that what makes Two Pages special is its analog, hands-on nature. The simple act of sitting down with paper and pen—free from pressure, judgment, or commercial demands—feels liberating, playful, and inspiring. They love being part of something that spans geographies and disciplines, and at times, participation sparks new projects, friendships, and rediscovered creative energy.

“Looking through the pages of the sketchbooks, you can see common trends and approaches to creativity worldwide. It makes you realise we’re all part of a small community, even if we’re miles apart. We care about the same things and express ourselves in similar ways. But then, when you look closer, you begin to see the different histories that influence contemporary practices. Comparing cities like New York and Seoul or Santiago and Tehran highlights those nuances, sparking fascinating visual conversations.”
