Help build a world that treats imagination as essential civic infrastructure.
This is resolutely not a fundraising letter. But because this news is unlike anything I’ve shared here before—and because it matters deeply to me—I’m placing it first. With this letter I invite you to support my effort to share a living archive of hope, imagination, and practice for those building positive tomorrows.
In 1984, at the first Hackers Conference, Stewart Brand famously said, “Information wants to be free.”
What he actually said was a little more nuanced: “Information wants to be expensive, because it’s so valuable. The right information in the right place just changes your life. On the other hand, information wants to be free, because the cost of getting it out is getting lower and lower all the time. So you have these two fighting against each other.”
He’s right. Publishing information is cheaper than ever. But it still takes a lot of time and effort. And in an era where journalism is fragmented, underfunded, and often distorted by algorithms, the real challenge isn’t making information free—it’s making it trustworthy, meaningful, and worth people’s attention.
Researching and writing a weekly newsletter, and building and maintaining a living catalog of the resources I gather, takes considerable time and effort. So I now offer a simple way for you to support the work behind it.Love & Work is a free public library, a place where anyone can come to explore their part in co‑creating better futures.
There are no paywalls, all content is free. By supporting this work, you help keep this resource open to all.
